FEATURED PROJECT

George Washington University

This LEED Certified Platinum university building features a seven story open interior. Throughout the entire seven floors, classrooms, offices and an auditorium uniquely stand out by the clever use of acoustical wood veneered panels on the classroom exteriors. The main building structure is comprised of concrete. The concrete permeates the interior walls and supporting columns throughout the building. Contrasting the concrete are classrooms that are distinctly separated by their unique shape, rounded corners and the acoustical panels enshrouding them.

ATTACHMENT METHODS

2Ceilings – Standard ceiling attachment methods include [S]=Seismically Compliant:

  • Torsion Spring & Saddle Clip [S] – A two-part suspension system in which the torsion spring is direct-screwed to the panel and compressed to attach to the saddle clip that is fitted over the heavy duty-grid. Springs and clips are made of spring-steel with phosphate pre-treatment and corrosion-resistant coating.
  • C-Hanger – Suspension hangers that are direct-screwed to the panel and hang over the heavy duty-grid. The hangers are made of spring-steel with phosphate pre-treatment and corrosion-resistant coating.
  • Machined Edge Conditions – Industry standard edge conditions including Full, Partial, and Standard Depth Tegular, Side-Slot, and Lay-In.
  • Direct Attach [S] – Direct attachment of system to suspension system via mechanical fasteners (typically screws).

3Walls – Standard wall attachment methods include:

  • Z-Clip – A two-part aluminum French Cleat system in which the receiving clip is attached to wall structure and the hanging clip is attached to the coresponding location on the system. Lift to disengage.
  • Direct Attach – Direct attachment of system to wall structure via mechanical fasteners (typically screws).

NOTES

1MAX – Panel sizes can be customized up to the maximum panel dimensions listed.

4Variable – Slot/Perforation patterns vary widely resulting in a wide NRC range. Precise NRC values can be provided once a layout has been selected.

5NRC Range – NRC ranges listed indicate the system’s base NRC and can be supplemented by additional insulation placed behind the panel.

6Seismic Compliant – Seismic compliance can only be achieved through Direct Attach or Torsion Spring & Saddle Clip attachment methods.

7Sustainability – The following sustainability standards/requirements can be met by Aluratone panels: HPD v1.2, FSC Mixed Credit, Indoor Advantage Gold, Recycled Content, NAF/ULEF.
